Sunday's Comin'

Sunday's Comin'

November 20,  2009

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I want to thank you in advance for coming to our Town Hall Congregational Meeting this Sunday after the second service (12:30 p.m.).   I know it takes some effort, but I really think it matters that you know what's going on at our church and where we're headed.   It matters that you are aware of how we are dealing with these trying economic times.    And perhaps, most importantly, we need you in order to be the church God has called us to be.
The sermon might spark some interest as well.  The seventh commandment, "You shall not commit adultery", is pretty relevant in our sex-crazed society.   The truth is we struggle and fail in this area.   We need forgiveness, repentance, healing and grace to live faithfully regarding our sexuality.  These are challenging times for followers of Jesus who want to honor God with their bodies and hearts.   Sunday we will look at our covenant relationship with God and the wonderful gift of sex and how to keep the enemy from wrecking it.
I will need to talk freely about very personal subjects, so you can decide if you want your children to hear this.  I often think believers are extremely naïve about what their children know and talk about in other places.   I have felt for many years that parents need to be the first to talk these things over with their children.   You have to start very early if you want to be the first to talk about those things with today's kids.   Just pray and do as God leads you.

See you Sunday,
Bill

P.S. Speaking of kids, as many of you know, we need 207 volunteers to cover the bases in our children's ministry.    Right now we don't have enough volunteers to meet the needs in our older two's Sunday School classroom beginning the first Sunday of December.   Would you pray about helping us with this need once a month?   If God leads you to help, please contact Shannon Ratcliffe at sratcliffe@gracecommunitychurch.org to get more information.
