Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I'm not sure there is a book in the Bible that God has used more to change lives than Romans. It is not to say that one part of Scripture is more important than another, but the book of Romans has been particularly used by God to transform people in radical ways. Augustine, Martin Luther and John Wesley all claim to have come to Christ through the influence of the book of Romans. For Augustine, it was finding the power of freedom from his out-of-control lusts and passions; for Luther, it was gaining the assurance that God accepted him because of what Christ had done; and for John Wesley, similarly having his heart strangely warmed in the realization that he was justified by faith. John Piper calls it the greatest letter ever written. If you study Romans, look out! It is a transforming book about the good news of God. If we really immerse ourselves in Romans, if we truly understand it, we won't be the same.
This Sunday, I will begin a series on Romans, The Good News of God. If you need some good news, come join us.
Gratefully,
Bill
