Sunday's Comin'! - March 5, 2010

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I bet I'm not the only one who appreciates the sunshine today which I so often take for granted. What an awesome God who gives us so much! This Sunday, I will be returning to our series from Deuteronomy, "Words of Grace." I'm not sure there is a more powerful passage in all the Old Testament than Deuteronomy 6:4-9. I think it's the greatest help to keep us from going crazy in this crazy world we live in with so much required and expected of us from others and ourselves. It's such a vital word to remind us of what really matters in the blur of life calling out in siren voices that this or that is most important. I really believe God has given us the greatest help in practical living through this passage. Come Sunday and we'll look at it together.

FAITH PROMISE
I'd like to remind you again that this is the time to turn in your Faith Promise Pledge if you have not already. The sum total of our pledges are the basis for Grace supporting all those in missions here and around the world. It is "Faith" because we pray and ask the Lord what He would have us "promise" from sources we do not see. We are saying, "Lord, if you provide this amount, I will give it to missions." Then throughout the next twelve months we pray and watch the Lord provide resources to further His kingdom. We'd like to do more this year than we did last year. There are several deserving missionaries from Grace who need our support and are not currently receiving support from our church. We have received $84,000 in pledges so far toward our goal of $130,000. Our budget this past year was $120,000. We'd like to be able to increase it this year.

MEN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED |
I would also like to ask men in our church to give a gift to the many female volunteers who make our children's ministry happen every Sunday. I'd like to ask you to volunteer in one of our classrooms Sunday, March 21st, so the regular teachers and helpers can go on our annual Women's Retreat. It will be a great time of refreshment for women in our churches. I'm sure I haven't heard the last of the TV interview Joann and I did for "Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage" on Cable Channel 6-it was quite entertaining to do the whole make-up, TV studio and off-the-cuff questions deal. If I didn't believe so much in the conference, believe me, I would not have done it. Seriously, I really do hope you will join us at what I believe is the best and most unusual encouragement for marriages and relationships I've seen. (It's next Friday, Feb. 26th from 7-10 p.m. and Sat., Feb. 27th from 9-12:30 p.m.) Joann and I have watched the video and have really seen a positive impact on our marriage along with a lot of laughs. I'm glad so many of you enjoyed having Don Richardson so much. It was such a gift to us to hear from someone who followed Jesus into the jungles of New Guinea to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the Stone Age Sawi tribe of cannibals and who continues to let the Lord lead and guide his life to reach people all over the world. He was a great addition to our Faith Promise focus for February.
This Sunday we will look at 2 Corinthians 9:6-15 and how we bless God, others and receive so much when we give. Please join us in praying that God will lead us to pledge the full $130,000 to fund our missions budget this year.
