Sunday's Comin' - January 29, 2010

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Whether we are under a blanket of snow or not, Sunday is coming! If we need to, we'll make a call about what to do Saturday night. In the meantime, our plan is to continue in our study of passages from Deuteronomy - a most relevant and powerful book. So how do you raise Godly kids - not moral kids or religious kids, but Godly kids? You might be saying, "Hey, I'll settle for moral or possibly religious!" You might also be surprised at how different Gods ways are than our ways regarding kids. More than raising kids and answering those questions, Deuteronomy 6:4-9 raises a question for all believers, "How do you love God?" We probably arent worried about God doing His part--loving us. Our question is more often not, 'Does God love me?" but, "Do I love Him?"  Lord willing, we will listen together to God's Word on these vital questions this Sunday.

God bless you,
Bill

Sunday's Comin' - January 15, 2010

 Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Just two days ago, the nation of Haiti experienced a magnitude 7 earthquake, releasing the energy of about a half a million tons of high explosives, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.  Homes, hospitals, schools, relief organizations and mission compounds are destroyed.  There are a large number of us who sponsor Haitian children with Compassion.  It is an organization we trust and have a lot of history with.  Right now,  they are still trying to contact their workers and find out about the children.  This would be a great time to give an extra gift to Compassion or Samaritan’s Purse, who are both on the ground trying to care for incredible needs.  Please be in prayer for the nation and her leaders as well as the countless people who have lost loved ones and everything they own.

This Sunday, we will continue looking at The Ten Commandments in our series Words of Grace.  We will be looking at the Ninth Commandment—a vital part of the “get to” life of believers.

See you then,

Bill
